CBD (CITIZENSHIP BY DESCENT):
If you can answer "yes" to the following questions, you may be eligible for citizenship by descent!
- Is your ancestor no farther back than your great-grandparent?
- Were they born within the present-day borders of what is now Slovakia?
- Were they citizens of Czechoslovakia / live past the creation of Czechoslovakia on October 28, 1918?

SLA (SLOVAK LIVING ABROAD):
Was your ancestor Slovak, but farther back than your great-grandparent, or wasn't born within the present-day borders of what is now Slovakia?
If your ancestor spoke or identified as Slovak, you may be eligible for the Slovak Living Abroad certificate, which entitles you to a residence permit in Slovakia, and after three years of physical residency, you can apply for citizenship.
